Incief staff distribute a box of Salixium to another staff for Covid-19 self-testing procedure before entering premise.

KUALA LUMPUR, 5 October 2021 – The Global University of Islamic Finance (INCEIF) reopens its doors to welcome students and staff back on campus in October 2021, with strict COVID-19 prevention and control measures, and Standard Operating Procedures in place. In prioritising the safety of its returning students and staff, the management of INCEIF, through its COVID-19 Response Committee has added another safety precaution by introducing COVID-19 self-testing for all students and staff alike before they re-enter the campus.

In line with the mission, INCEIF has collaborated with MeDKAD in this self-testing initiative by distributing up to 250 packs of SALIXIUM COVID-19 self-test kits which will allow INCEIF to initiate up to 2 rounds of testing, fortnightly for its students and staff (selected on a first come first serve basis) during this reopening month.

According to INCEIF President & CEO, Prof Dato’ Dr. Azmi Omar, “INCEIF is proud to partner with MeDKAD to distribute their product, SALIXIUM COVID-19 self-test kits – the first Malaysian made product of such kind, to our students and staff as we reopen our international campus this October. The protection of our students and staff is particularly important to us. Precautions are necessary to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 in university settings. It is important to remember that COVID-19 does not differentiate between borders, ethnicities, disability status, age, or gender. Education settings should continue to be welcoming, respectful, inclusive, and supportive to all.

Measures taken by institutions can prevent the entry and spread of COVID-19 by students and staff who may have been exposed to the virus while minimising disruption and protecting students and staff from discrimination. Together with MeDKAD’s support, we aim not just to provide a safe space for our students and staff, but to set a precedent for other learning institutions to be inspired in embarking on their own similar initiative, in our collective efforts towards fighting the spread of COVID-19 in the country”.

In agreement, Ezuan Yaacob, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of MeDKAD said, “Testing is a critical cornerstone of the COVID-19 response, and our product, SALIXIUM, is a reliable tool to detect the presence of the virus at the point of care. As a local player, It is our mission to ensure that the self-testing kit is accessible to all Malaysians and those living in this country. This self-testing kit is the first tier of defense against the relentless threat of the pandemic and future health crises.

On behalf of MeDKAD, we are proud to collaborate with INCEIF in this meaningful and dynamic initiative. This has the potential to assist with the government’s mission to respond effectively to the pandemic, enabling quick diagnosis and response to contain localised virus outbreaks before they spread. At MeDKAD, we will keep striving to do our best to provide the best quality of COVID-19 antigen rapid self-test kits to fight the pandemic, while contributing to the country’s socio-economic situation”.

The partnership also witnessed INCEIF and MeDKAD discussing ways to continue supplying self-test kits in the subsequent months of November and December 2021 as part of the university’s ongoing effort in keeping the INCEIF campus free of COVID-19 infection.
